練馬区の日本大学練馬光が丘病院（以下、日大光が丘病院）撤退、および志木市の志木市民病院からの小児科撤退により、4月以降の東京都北西部から埼玉県南西部に及ぶ広域の小児救急医療崩壊が避けられない状況になっております。

日大光が丘病院と志木市民病院が都北西部と県南西部において、小児救急医療で果たしてきた役割は非常に大きく、日大光が丘病院は小児科常勤16名で年間 8,000〜10,000人の小児救急対応し、志木市民病院も現在年間約12,000人の小児患者に対応しております。また小児科病床もそれぞれ34床、 45床、同一医療圏の順天堂練馬病院は24床、国立埼玉病院は26床であることを考えると、日大光が丘病院と志木市民病院小児科の撤退で地域全体の60％ もの小児病床がなくなることなります。これは非常に重大な事態で、患者搬送の遅滞による大事故や病院小児科のドミノ倒しに発展しかねません。
