　ちなみに、オブジェクト指向の話とは関係ないが、言語学者の金田一春彦氏によると、目上の人に塩をとって欲しい場合の、最も丁寧な言い方は、「すみません、それはお塩でしょうか？」だそうである（『日本語を反省して見ませんか』角川書店）。それを読んだときに、まさに「言語は文化である」と感動した。
